POSITION SUMMARY AND SCOPE OF RESONSIBILITY

The Opportunity:

Valley Water District has an immediate opening for a Water Utility Worker II. The District is seeking a knowledgeable, motivated individual to be part of a team whose goal is to provide safe and quality installation, repairs, and preventive maintenance to the District’s water system.

The District:

Valley Water District (VWD) is a municipal corporation formed pursuant to and regulated by Washington State statutes, specifically Title 57 RCW.  Valley Water District strives to provide its customers with clean, safe, reliable water service that meets or exceeds all water quality standards, maintaining policies and practices that benefit the health and welfare of the community. Formed in 1993, the District currently owns and operates 8 non-contiguous water systems that total approximately 3,200 connections.

Job Title: Water Utility Worker II

Responsible To: Operations Manager

Monthly Salary: $5,727-$8,526 DOE

FLSA Classification: Full-Time, Permanent, Non-Exempt

Days/Hours: Monday – Friday, 7:00am-3:30pm

Opening Date: Immediately

POSITION DUTIES

Job Summary:

The Water Utility Worker II is responsible for the on-site maintenance and operation of the District’s water distribution and treatment systems, physical plants, tanks, and reservoirs. The Water Utility Worker II will perform varied manual work and operate heavy and specialized equipment to maintain and/or repair water distribution and water treatment systems. This position will be required to be in the on-call rotation (every 4-6 weeks) and must reside within 30 minutes travel to the District office.

Water Utility Worker II 

QUALIFICATIONS

Education and Experience:

·       High school diploma or GED equivalent

  • 3-5 years progressively responsible experience in the maintenance, repair, and operation of a water distribution system of a public utility or comparable construction experience; any equivalent combination of education and experience that provides the applicant with the knowledge, skills, and abilities required to perform the job

·       Valid Washington State driver’s license and acceptable driving record required

·       Pumping and Water Treatment experience preferred

·       Must possess:

  • Washington State Water Distribution Manager I or higher certification
  • A valid Class A Commercial Driver's License with air brake endorsement, (or obtain within 1 year)
  • Water Treatment Plant Operator 1 or higher certification (or obtain within 2 years)
  • Cross Connection Control Specialist (or obtain within 1 year)
  • Flagger/Traffic Control Certification
  • First Aid/CPR card
