POSITION SUMMARY AND SCOPE OF RESONSIBILITY

This position may perform administrative and clerical tasks such as Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Billing and other office-related duties of the District and reports to the District Manager.

POSITION DUTIES

  • Prepare and Submit Accounts Payable.
  • Primary backup to Utility Billing Clerk and Receptionist.
  • Answer customer calls and assist walk in customers, including taking payments.
  • Maintain office supply inventory.
  • Maintain postal accounts.
  • Create semi-annual newsletter.
  • Assist with Cross Connection program.
  • Organize and maintain District files and records.
  • Perform deliveries and errands as necessary.
  • Perform general administrative and clerical tasks as needed.
  • Provide general assistance to the District Manager.
  • Other Duties as Assigned.

EMPLOYMENT STANDARDS

Requires knowledge of office work and computer system operations sufficient to perform duties in a thorough and accurate manner.

Specifically requires:

  • Knowledge of basic accounting practices, including utility billing.
  • Ability to use good judgment.
  • Ability to work with general supervision.
  • Proficiency with office equipment and computers.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relations with customers and other District personnel and advisors.
  • Ability to work with numbers accurately, including use of decimals and percentages.
  • Ability to type at 50 wpm.
  • Ability to prioritize assignments and meet multiple deadlines.

QUALIFICATIONS

Requires any equivalent combination of education and experience which provides the applicant with the knowledge, skills and abilities required to perform the job. A typical way to obtain the knowledge and abilities would be:

  • High School diploma or GED.
  • Training in computer systems, clerical and office administration.
  • Three years of progressively responsible experience in clerical and office administration.
  • Two years of progressively responsible experience in bookkeeping or accounting.
  • Valid Washington State driver’s license, with good record.
